On Thursday, Puntland authorities presented four ISIS members who had surrendered to their security forces at Al-Miskaad Mountain. According to Puntland security forces officer, these members have decided to turn themselves in and will be investigated for their role in the ISIS group. The officer stated, “Anyone who surrenders will be given the opportunity to face justice.” He also urged other ISIS members to take advantage of this opportunity. Puntland authorities have recently achieved significant success in their fight against ISIS, particularly in the past few weeks where successive security operations have inflicted heavy losses on ISIS fighters, weakening their operational capabilities. The four members who surrendered to Puntland security forces include three Ethiopian nationals and one Yemeni national. In addition, just a few days ago, Puntland security forces captured another foreign national in Habar Bajuuke, located in Togga Baallade. After engaging in armed confrontations with ISIS for the past 13 months, Puntland authorities have successfully weakened the operational capabilities of the ISIS group based in Al-Miskaad Mountain. Many ISIS fighters are now on the run, while others are hiding in caves to avoid the ground offensives launched by Puntland and US airstrikes.
