A delegation from Germany, led by State Minister of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Mr. Neils Annen, arrived in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, on Monday. The Somali Prime Minister, Mr. Hamze Abdi Barre, received the German delegation, which also included German Ambassador to Somalia, Mr. Sebastian Groth. During the meeting, the Somali Prime Minister briefed the delegation on the current drought affecting regions in Somalia and the progress made in the fight against terrorism. The two sides also discussed upcoming elections, the completion of the constitution, and the expected meeting between Somali Federal Government officials and the Somali Future Council. Mr. Neils Annen expressed gratitude to the Somali Prime Minister for the warm reception and emphasized the importance of cooperation based on mutual interests between the two governments. The Prime Minister confirmed that Somalia will play its role in promoting peace and stability in the world, particularly within the UN. This visit by the German delegation comes at a crucial time, as relations between the two countries are deepening. The German government recently recognized the Somali diplomatic passport, further strengthening diplomatic ties and facilitating travel between the two countries.
