The Commander of U.S. Africa Command, Gen. Michael Langley, has told the Senate Armed Forces Committee that the U.S. will intensify operations and airstrikes against ISIS members in Somalia.
Gen. Michael Langley said: ” The President and the Defense Secretary have granted me a full power to target and carry out airstrikes against ISIS members in Somalia.”
The Commander has told that the airstrikes U.S. Africa Command carried out in Somalia killed many ISIS Commanders.
He pointed out that the airstrikes against Al-Shabab militants will be intensified which will increase the number of deaths of Al-Shabab militants.
Michael Langley said: We have the overall capability to strike hard when it comes to Al-Shabab and ISIS terrorists.”
U.S. President Donald Trump has given an authorized instruction to U.S. Africa Command to target ISIS members who are stationed in Al-Miskaad Mountan range and Al-Shabab militants based in South and Central Somalia.
Trump said that the move is part of an ongoing efforts which are aimed at eliminating international terrorists.
He reiterated that there will not be a hiding ground for the terrorist groups.
