Somaliland soldier on Sunday shot dead his wife and daughter, and seriously wounded his sister-in-law. The incident took place in Faluuja, a village in Hargeisa, Somaliland capital.
The soldier whose name has not been identified opened fire his family killing his wife and daughter on the spot. One of the children of the soldier told Bulsho TV that his father left home at around 8:00 am.
He further added that he took the gun from somewhere and started to shoot his mother who was sitting in the gate. Amina who is the sister-in-law of the soldier told Bulsho TV that he returned to the house while carrying the gun. She said that he was not talking once he was greeted, and committed the murder.
She said: “Once he came in, my brother greeted him. He did not respond. Once my brother said to him that you are carrying a gun today, he immediately turned back and shot the daughter multiple times. From that moment, I lost conscious.”
She further added that once the shooting occurred, residents in the neighborhood came out and gathered outside the area in order to capture the soldier. She further revealed that it took a while to apprehend him as he was pointing the gun at the people. Apart from the two people who were killed, the other person who was seriously injured is currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital in Hargeisa.
