The Ministry of Energy and Minerals of the Republic of Somaliland, in collaboration with oil exploration companies Genel Energy and OPIC-CPC Taiwan, has delivered 10,300 water tankers to the National Drought Committee to support communities affected by ongoing drought.

The donation targets vulnerable populations in the Togdheer and Saraar regions, where the companies are actively engaged in oil exploration and related activities. Distribution efforts will be managed by the national agency ACRIF, focusing on areas hardest hit by the prolonged dry spell.

This initiative highlights the growing partnership between the Somaliland government and international investors in addressing urgent humanitarian needs alongside resource development projects.

Officials emphasized that such support demonstrates corporate social responsibility in regions impacted by exploration operations.

The water trucking program aims to provide immediate relief by delivering clean and safe water to drought-stricken families, bolstering community resilience during the crisis.
