The President of Somaliland His Excellency, Musa Bihi Abdi , hosted a farewell reception at the presidential palace for 380 students from Somaliland who got scholarships from neighboring country of Ethiopia.
Among others, the deputy president of Somaliland, Hon. Abdirahman Sayli’i, minister of sceince and education, Hon. Yasin Mohamud Faraton, deputy education minister, Abdikadir Mohamud Mohumed, president of Hargeisa University, Hon. Mohamed Yusuf Muse, other gov’t ministers, the students who won the scholarships and their parents were in attendance.
The government of Somaliland has sponsored the students costs during pursuing their tertiary education in Ethiopia and will leave for Ethiopia in the days to come and will board flights bound to Addis Ababa which the government paid.
The education minister has underscored that the country has sent the highest numbers of scholarships to overseas since Somaliland’s inception.
The minister said that he allocated the scholarships berths whereby the public was given 70 percent while its counterpart got 30 percent of the berths.
The Head of State, Hon. Musa Bihi has congratulated on the students who won the scholarships and also felicitated the parents who strove to get their children educated.
The president has stressed that the gov’t is doing all it can to educate the young so that the country can take important strides in the right direction.
