Somaliland President Receives FAO Representative

Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi alias Irro on Saturday received a delegation headed by Mr. Etienne Peterschmitt, FAO Representative to Somalia/ Somaliland, and is flanked by Head of FAO office in Somaliland, Dr. Abdikarim Mogeh and Dr. Papa Ndiaye, FAO Fisheries Coordinator.

During the meeting, Somaliland President was flanked by the Minister of Planning, Minister of Fisheries, the Presidential Spokesman, and the President’s Secretary.

First of All, the Head of State welcomed FAO delegation and expressed thanks for the long-standing working cooperation that FAO has with Somaliland.

Irro expressed thanks and deep appreciation to FAO for the support it provides to Somaliland.

The two sides discussed ways to cooperate jointly on issues of high priority for the nation, particularly in the areas of livestock development, the life of rural communities, agriculture and fisheries.

FAO Representative showed his readiness to support the National Development Plan that the Somaliland gov’t put in place.

He told that he is very excited that FAO staffers in Somaliland are very skillful and have good knowledge.

On his side, Irro confirmed that the government dubbed “Togetherness and Action” is committed to closely work with FAO.

He also said that the funds that FAO provides to Somaliland will be well-coordinated in order to ensure food security, adaptation of climate change, and the promotion of the livelihood ways of communities across Somaliland.
