Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi alias Irro flanked by members of gov’t officials yesterday received top officials of Pharo Foundation.
Pharo Foundation is engaged in the implementation of projects on education, health, agriculture, water and environment in Somaliland.
Pharo Foundation is headquartered in the UK but it has operational offices in Somaliland, Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda.
Guillaume Fonkenell, Fara Jirde (founders), CEO, Tom Mason, the Country Director, Mohamed Muse Elmi, Pharo Ventures and Technical Adviser, Mohamed Farah, Head of Pharo Ventures, Kahlid Esse were in attendance of the meeting with Somaliland President.
The focus of the meeting was about ways that Somaliland gov’t and Pharo Foundation will cooperate on investment, the implementation of agricultural production in Somaliland, and the promotion of food security.
The Head of State has welcomed to hold a meeting with Pharo Foundation officials.
He said that the gov’t of Somaliland is committed to lure and work with everyone who is really serious in investing in agriculture. Livestock, minerals and other various resources in which the country is rich with.
He told Pharo Foundation officials that agricultural investment and building reservoirs in farming areas are crucial and a strategic step which shows that Somaliland gov’t is committed to work investors with accountability so as the nation makes progress and achieve lasting food security.
He underscored the importance of modern planting and building reservoirs that play a role in reviving the economic livelihood of communities, development of food security, and to ensure the conservation of the environment in the long term.
Pharo Foundation officials expressed thanks to the President for the warm and the cordial welcome and the possibility of meeting with him.
They also lauded the President for his victory in the last Presidential elections in 2024.
They also commended Somaliland for its peace, stability and the maturity of Somaliland democracy which it embraced in 2000.
The reason Pharo Foundation officials visited the Presidential Palace and held meetings with Somaliland President is to discuss with the implementation of the biggest agricultural project that Pharo Foundation is carrying out in Somaliland.
They told that Pharo Foundation and Somaliland gov’t will establish close working relations which is based on the long term fruitful cooperation which will lead Somaliland to development and that building reservoirs will have a lot of advantages as well as agriculture projects.
The objective is to build reservoirs in large area where large farming areas use it for irrigation using modern technical planting and to ensure the conservation of the environment.
