Djibouti peacekeepers who will serve in the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) arrived in Beledweyne.
Col. Said Waberi Harour, the Sector Four Commander and other officials of the Somali National Army (SNA), greeted the Djibouti soldiers upon landing at Ugaas Khaliif airport in Beledweyne.
The Djibouti soldiers were dispatched to Buuloburde and Jalalaqsi districts which are strategic areas in Hiiraan province.
Officers that welcomed the new Djiboutian soldiers who spoke to the media reiterated that the role the new troops will play when it comes to the joint operations that Somali National Army (SNA) conduct against Al-Shabab militants and to maintain the security of Central Somalia’s provinces.
The new Djiboutian troops will join the operations against Al-Shabab militants that launch unprecedented attacks against districts in Hiiraan province.
The Djibouti troops that serve in AUSSOM will maintain the security of important places including the administration centers, airports and will ensure the security of roads where logistics reach troops that are part of the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia.
