Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro on Thursday officially cut the ribbon of Somaliland diplomatic Mission to Kenya.

The SL diplomatic Mission was scheduled to be opened on May 27, but Kenya halted it citing changes were made to the office. The new office has been elevated to a diplomatic office. Somaliland office in Kenya was functioning as a Liaison Office. The Gov’t of Kenya rejected the office to be opened due to the level that it has been upgraded. The ribbon cutting diplomatic office in Kenya has been interpreted that Kenya officially accepted the new office. Somaliland opposition Kulmiye party has criticized the visit that Somaliland President, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro embarked to Kenya citing that he did not receive an official invitation from Kenyan President William Ruto. The opposition party pointed out that this was a diplomatic mishap which can damage Somaliland’s foreign relations.
