Early on Thursday morning, the local defense forces known as Ma’awisley carried out a planned operation in Aboorey settlement which is under Buuloburde district in Hiiraan region.
Ma’awisley forces raided Al-shabab positions inside Aboorey settlement, and heavy fighting ensued between the local defense forces and Al-Shabab fighters. Reports indicate that Ma’awisley forces inflicted heavy casualties on Al-Shabab fighters.
They killed several Al-Shabab fighters including a senior leader named Abuu Haniifa. The Al-Shabab leader who was killed in the raid was the man who was in charge of Al-Shabab fighters that are stationed in Aboorey settlement.
It is confirmed that the local defense forces are stationed in the front gate of Aboorey settlement. The local defense forces are planning to conduct operations which are aimed to recapture Aboorey from the militant group of Al-Shabab.
The operation that took place in Aboorey settlement coincides at a time when similar operations were carried out in the settlements that lie in the border areas between Hiiraan and Galguduud regions.
