Senior officials from the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development of the Republic of Somaliland hosted an honorary dinner in recognition of the Burco Finance Football Club’s outstanding performance and conduct during the recent competition.
The event was led by Minister of State Ismail Mowlid Abdillahi, Director General Mohamed Hasan Salebaan, together with the Manager of Berbera Customs, the Financial Coordinator of Togdheer Region, and the Manager of Land Revenue for the Saahil Region.
The dinner, held as part of the Ministry’s continued support for sports and youth development, aimed to express appreciation for the club’s extra effort, high level of activity, and exemplary discipline throughout the tournament.
Earlier in the day, the Ministry delegation attended an exciting match at Abdalle Stadium in Berbera, where the Burco Finance Football Club faced the Erigavo Local Government Team. The match was marked by high intensity and enthusiasm, though victory ultimately went to the Erigavo side.
The Ministry of Finance and Economic Development currently sponsors six football clubs bearing its name across Somaliland’s major regions. Officials emphasized that supporting sports remains a key priority, describing it as an essential pillar for youth empowerment, peace-building, social cohesion, and broader national development.
