The Somaliland government wrapped up a military training for new recruits on Saturday. The ceremony, which marked the graduation of the military troops, was attended by Somaliland’s Army Chief, Brigadier General Niman Yusuf Osman, members of the Somaliland government, and regional authorities. According to a statement issued by Somaliland, the newly trained soldiers, totaling 6000, will officially join the National Army and are trained to maintain security and defend the nation. Yesterday, Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro delivered a speech, calling on the public to remain ready to defend the nation amidst political tension caused by Israel’s recognition of Somaliland. The showcasing of the newly trained troops coincides with the visit of Somalia’s top officials, including the President and Prime Minister, to Lasanod for the inauguration of Sool’s Chairman, Mr. Abdikadir Firdhiye. This visit has angered the Somaliland government, who have accused the Somali Federal Government of aggression.
