Somaliland accuses Puntland authority of having links with pirates and terrorist groups

Somaliland has dismissed Puntland allegations accusing Somaliland it has ties with the extremist groups. Somaliland has reiterated that it has nothing to do with the terrorist organizations. The Minister responsible for information, Ahmed Yasin Sheikh Ali Ayanle, has said that the accusations that Puntland authority levelled against Somaliland is baseless. He further revealed that Somaliland is not a breeding ground and a safe haven for international terrorism.

He said: ” Puntland regional authority repeated again and again that terrorists originate from Somaliland. There are no safe haven for Al-Shabab and Daesh terrorist groups in Somaliland. Somaliland has nothing to do with piracy as well.”

The information minister has accused that Puntland has links with terrorist groups and the piracy. He went on to say that pirates share the ransom with officials in Puntland presidential palace.

He said: ” There is no single piracy incident that occurred in the territorial waters of Somaliland. Puntland presidential palace has close links with pirates. We do not know if other people think they know your shortcomings.”

The minister has stated that Puntland authority is flabbergasted the reason why Al-Shabab carry out attack in Somaliland soil. He disclosed that peace in Somaliland has come through unity among the people. He said that extremism is a project which is going on well in Somalia and Somaliland is not part of the project. Puntland information minister, Mahmud Aidid Dirir, has recently accused that Somaliland has links with terrorist organizations. Lawmakers and politicians hailing from Puntland have the same opinion and argued that terror attacks did not occur in Somaliland soil if Somaliland has ties to the terrorist organizations. The religious affairs minister of Somalia, Mukhtar Robow, who was an ex-Al-Shabab member, has said that the militant group has failed to conduct attacks in Somaliland soil due to vigilant of the people.

He further said that the community works with security agencies.
