The Incumbent Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud on Sunday has said that he is ready to reach out to political leaders and people who have different opinions and called on them to come on board.
The Head of State has urged them to play a crucial role in the ongoing war against Al-Shabab militants and the rebuilding of governance based on the federal system.
He said: ” I want to reach out to politicians and community leaders so that their views and efforts to be part of the ongoing war with Al-Shabab, the rebuilding of modern governance based on democracy and the federal system which is based on the country’s constitution and the laws of the land.”
The President expressed thanks and appreciations to the political leaders on their understanding when it comes to the unity of the country.
He pointed out that they do not strongly disagree with Al-Shabab on political views but we fundamentally disagree the existence of the Somali government which is free.
He said: ” I welcome the good understanding in order to protect the unity of the country.”
On the other hand, he reiterated the importance to have a broad cooperation in order to ensure the peace and governance in Somalia.
The President made the remarks during a speech he delivered via the television on the eve of Eid-al-fitr.
The speech comes at a time when the government has been criticized the way it is handling the war with AL-Shabab.
