The Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, leading a high level delegation on Thursday travelled to Turkey after he received an official invitation from his Turkish counterpart, Rajab Dayib Erdogan.
During his visit, the Somali President will hold high level meeting with his Turkish counterpart.
The two sides are expected to discuss ways to consolidate the longstanding bilateral cooperation between Somalia and Turkey.
The focus of the discussion will be the cooperation in the areas in military, security and intensifying the ongoing war which is aimed at flushing out Al-Shabab.
The visit is crucial in the efforts to enhance the diplomatic ties between Somalia and Turkey, and Turkey’s role in the operations against the militant group.
The Somali gov’t is committed to engaging the ongoing war in a bid to ensure the stability, peace and the reconstruction of Somalia.
Somalia and Turkey have longstanding, friendly and brotherly ties.
The two sides have forged strategic relations in the areas of security, military, trade, economy, energy and education.
