Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud yesterday left for Uganda in order to attend the meeting that will bring together the leaders of countries that contribute troops to Somalia who are convening in Kampala.
A meeting at a regional level is currently underway in Kampala which kicked off on the 22nd of April and is expected to last until the 25th of April.
The Army Chiefs of African countries that contribute troops serving in the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM) are attending the meeting.
The most important thing about the meeting is to strengthen the financial and political support of (AUSSOM), which has been recently established.
AUSSOM replaced previous operations dubbed AMISOM and ATMIS.
Besides the Somali President, leaders from Uganda, Kenya, Djibouti, Burundi, Ethiopia and Egypt will be in attendance of the high level meeting.
Egypt was not involved of sending troops to Somalia to serve in the African Union peace keeping troops.
The Somali President leading a delegation arrived in Kampala, Ugandan capital.
He received a warm welcome upon arrival at Entebbe int’l airport.
He will attend the meeting where Heads of States that contribute troops to Somalia are convening in Uganda today.
During the meeting, the Somali President will put forward the achievements that the Somali gov’t and its populace reached while operations to flush out terrorists are underway.
The Somali President will hold meetings with his counterparts who are attending the meeting in which he will discuss with them the expedition of the cooperation which is aimed to eradicate terrorists from Somalia.
