Somalia’s Prime Minister, Hamze Abdi Barre, on Sunday, has performed Eid-al-Fitr prayers with units of Somalia’s National Army and local residents in Number 50 district in Lower Shabelle region.
The PM dressed in a military uniform has delivered a speech to the local residents living in Number 50.
He urged the residents to support the ongoing operations which are aimed at flushing out Al-Shabab militants from the country.
According to reports, the PM is expected to travel other districts in the frontline in Lower Shabelle region.
He will make a short stopover to Balidoogle military camp.
He urged the armed forces to increase their efforts in maintaining security .
He disclosed that the reason gov’t officials visit the frontline is to speed up the operations which are aimed at liberating Al-Shabab from the country.
Lower Shabelle province is among areas where anti-terrorism operations against Al-Shabab militants are underway.
Attacks and airstrikes were conducted against Al-Shabab militants for past week.
