Somali opposition politicians on Monday held a crucial meeting with the envoys from the int’l community who are based in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital. The focus of the meeting was on election issues and what the future holds for Somalia. The current meeting follows a previous gathering in which the opposition politicians held in Mogadishu.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the urgent need to hold inclusive elections which are in line with the country’s constitution and previous accords. They reiterated that the elections must be held on time.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed in depth the importance of having a stable political atmosphere, and to build the confidence of the people, the gov’t agencies and friends of the world that standby Somalia.
The opposition politicians shared the representatives from the int’l community suggestions and exchanged views which are aimed to expedite the political reconciliation and to hold the elections based on consolations and freedom.
Representatives from the int’l community demonstrated their support to develop Somalia’s democracy. They lauded the role that the opposition politicians play when it comes to speeding up the dialogue and to improve the current situation of the public.
Somalia’s opposition politicians emphasized that the political solution in the country is to find an election that all sides are satisfied with in order the country to peacefully advance from the transition and to overcome the political obstacles.
