The Somali National Army—specifically the 62nd Battalion—conducted planned operations against the Khawarij in areas within the Kunturwaarey district of the Lower Shabelle region.
These operations, which took place in the areas of Laba Yaaq, Cambareey, Busleey, Makaay Dumis, and Maryan Dheere, were led by the commander of the 62nd Battalion, Major Farah Geedi Lugeey.
