The office of the Auditor General in Somaliland has detained seven officials from the Buroa district municipality on allegations of misappropriation of public funds. The names of the arrested officials have been released by the Auditor General’s office and include Amin Abdilahi Yasin, Dirie Sagal Roble, Abdilahi Muse Mohamed, Mohamed Haji Muse Shire, Abdiasis Jama Ismail, Mohamed Ali Hirsi, and Farah Muse Said. According to reports, the Auditor General’s office conducted a thorough investigation and found evidence of graft and misappropriation of public assets by these officials. However, there has been no official statement from the lawyers representing the detained officials and the details of the embezzled money have not been disclosed by the Auditor General. This case is a part of the AG office’s increased efforts to combat corruption and embezzlement of public funds, as they have previously prosecuted officials involved in similar cases of corruption.
