Fierce fighting enters its second which is underway in an area between Moqokori and Adan Yabaal district in Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle province.
Reports say that there was heavy fighting which lasted for six connective hours which ensued between Somali National Army (SNA), backed by local Ma’awisley forces and Al-shabab militants.
Reports pointed out that it was the fiercest fighting that occurred recently in the border between Hiiraan and Middle Shabelle provinces.
There are casualties including deaths and injuries from both sides.
It is confirmed that Abdi Yusuf Salad was killed in the fighting that ensued between Somali troops and Al-Shabab militants.
He was known as Abdi Goomey. He was one of the senior officers of the local defense forces known as Ma’awisley and hails from Hawadle clan.
Abdi Goomey was one of the senior officers of the local defense forces as he was one of the most-wanted man by the militant group of Al-shabab.
He was awarded $ 10, 000 after he killed Al-shabab leader who was responsible for finance in Moqokori district.
However, the militant group of Al-Shabab bragged about the killing of Abdi Goomey. The group said that they were searching him for quite some time.
