Somaliland President H.E Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro has revealed that Somaliland gov’t exerted maximum efforts in its quest of an int’l recognition for Somaliland. He disclosed that they have sent letters to world leaders, and further added that Somaliland as a nation will be useful in the stabilization and pacification in Somalia.
President Irro has stated that the decision reached by Somaliland National Movement (SNM), the clans and Somaliland community in which they announced that they retracted from the failed union was the right decision. He clearly stated that if they did not secede, Somaliland would not reach the destination it has reached now.
He said: “We have decided that every Somali community must rectify what has gone wrong. I believe that our brothers in the South would acknowledge and understand that we can so something together in many possible ways.”
He disclosed that Somaliland has an extensive experience when it comes to the state building and if we become an independent state, it will play a crucial role when it comes to the state building.’ He said: “I am confident that Somaliland as an independent state would be useful to find a resolution to the longstanding problems in Somalia.”
He called on the neighboring and world countries to respect the efforts in its quest for an int’l recognition for Somaliland. He pointed out that he submitted letters to the world leaders requesting from them to formally recognize Somaliland. He went on to say that Somaliland was built through reconciliation and internal pacification.
He said that the world will learn a lot from Somaliland’s state rebuilding. He also stated that failed states can learn from Somaliland in order to be successful and be part of the world again. The Head of State made the remarks during the 34th re-establishment anniversary of Somaliland. Finally, he said that Somaliland harmonized the tradition, the religion and modern state building. He made clear that Somaliland held eight elections through peaceful manner.
