Security Forces Arrest Al-Shabab’s most notorious operative in Bardhere district

On Saturday, Somalia’s Security Forces in Bardhere district, located in the Gedo region, detained one of the most notorious Al-Shabab operatives. According to a Press Statement issued by the Federal Government of Somalia, the officer was the ringleader responsible for the militant group’s activities in Bardhere district and nearby settlements. The statement also stated that he was responsible for carrying out acts of insecurity and sabotaging the local economy. The Al-Shabab operative, identified as Mr. Mohamud Sharif Hussein, was in charge of conducting explosions in Bardhere district, specifically by placing landmines on the roads. The statement further added that he collected information on local traders in the Gedo region, allowing the militant group to confiscate their property. He also provided logistics to the group. During his confession, he admitted that Somali Police Officers in Bardhere district were killed as a result of the landmines he had placed on the roads.
