On Saturday, the Puntland authority called on officers stationed in Lasanod who have grievances against the administration to immediately hand over their weapons. This statement was made by Puntland Police Chief, General Mumin Abdi Shire. He accused these officers of illegally possessing weapons and bases belonging to Puntland authority, stating that they are Puntland’s property. He emphasized that failure to comply with this request would have negative security consequences. He also reminded the officers that no one is above the law and those involved in political matters should return their weapons and bases. This statement was made at a time when soldiers from Puntland, specifically the Danab Special Forces and Puntland Security Forces, have joined Somalia’s Military forces to protect SFG officials in Lasanod. Recently, the Commander of the Danab brigade, General Jimale Jama Takar, stated in Lasanod that he does not recognize Saed Abdilahi Deni as the President of Puntland regional authority and that they will be under the command of the Chairman of Sool region, Mr. Firdhiye.
