Puntland regional authority has condemned the raid that took place during the pre-dawn meal before the Fajr prayer on Thursday. According to Puntland, the Somali Federal Government launched an attack on parliamentarians at a hotel located in the Adden Adde International Airport compound in Mogadishu. In addition, Puntland has also condemned what it calls an abduction of Puntland Presidential adviser on social affairs, Mr. Ahmed Abdi Hurre, which took place at around 3:00 am. The press statement issued by Puntland Presidential Palace, stated that this action is a clear violation of the state, as legal channels were not followed in detaining an innocent person. Member of Somali parliament, Sadam Mohamed Abdi, revealed that they were attacked while they were national lawmakers. The Somali Police Force released a statement saying that they detained Ahmed Abdi Hurre, who is accused of being involved in acts of insecurity, and that investigations are currently underway. However, there are reports stating that the police physically assaulted the MPs after they resisted the detention of Hurre. The Somali police force has not addressed the allegations made by the MPs that they were tortured.
