PM Hamze Receives AU Chairperson

The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamze Abdi Barre on Sunday received the African Union Commission Chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Yousuf at his office.

The AU Chairperson is currently on two-day working visit to Mogadishu.

The two sides discussed ways to strengthen the working cooperation between the African Union and Somali Federal Gov’t.

The high level discussion focused in the areas of security, combating Al-Shabab militants and the role AUSSOM plays when it comes to the peace keeping troops in Somalia.

The Somali PM Hamze expressed deep thanks and appreciations to the AU Chairperson for embarking his first official visit to Somalia ever since he assumed the top job.

This is clear indication that the African Union is giving a top priority to Somali Federal Gov’t.

The PM spoke about the huge achievements that the Somali Federal Gov’t made so far when it comes to the ongoing operations to flush out Al-shabab militants from Somalia.

The two sides also discussed the overall security in the Horn of Africa.

AU Chairperson, Mahmoud Ali Yousuf expressed thanks and appreciations to the Somali gov’t and its people for the warm welcome accorded to him and his delegation.

He pledged that the AU is committed to continue the support it provides to the Somali gov’t and its peopls.
