The pilot of a plane belonging to the United Nations with 22 passengers on board on Tuesday landed safely without its front wheels after the landing gear on the plane failed to deploy.

The pilot managed to land the plane on its nose at Adden Adde Int’l airport in Mogadishu, causing no injuries to the passengers and the crew.

According to Somalia’s Civil Aviation authority (SCAA), said that the plane left from Mogadishu and was destined for Baidoa after the front wheel failed to come out on landing and returned to Mogadishu’s Adden Adde airport.

The plane’s nose caught on fire but firefighters have managed to extinguish it immediately.
