Local clan forces in Mahadaay district on Tuesday conducted an operation against the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab in Cabdulle Baraar which is nearby to Ciid Ciidka area in Middle Shabelle province.
According to Osman Beerey, the Commander who led the operation said that the local clan forces killed 7 al-Shabab militants and confiscated weapons and a motorbike.
He further told that the local clan forces ambushed al-Shabab militants in Mahadaay district.
For the past couple of days the number of local residents who joined the local clan forces surged in the districts after Al-Shabab militants took control districts in the province.
The Somali Gov’t intensified the operations and airstrikes against the militant group stationed in Middle Shabelle province.
The Somali gov’t conducted the operations and airstrikes with the support of local clan forces and with int’l partners.
On the other hand, four Al-shabab members have surrendered to the Somali Security Forces who are stationed in Baidoa town in Bay region.
They said that they joined the militant group while in Bay, Bakool and Jubba provinces.
They further added that they took part in clashes between the Somali troops and the militants.
