The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in collaboration with international partners, announced that it carried out a planned operation in the Mahaas, Mukayle, and Shaw areas of the Hiiraan region. According to a statement from NISA, the operation successfully eliminated 26 Al-Shabab members and destroyed their centers and weapons storage facilities. The first operation targeted Al-Shabab fighters in the Madax-Weyn area of Mahaas. The Somali Federal Government confirmed that 14 Al-Shabab members were eliminated and their tents and hideouts were destroyed. The second operation, in Mukayle, targeted bases where Al-Shabab members were involved in investigations and committed atrocities against travelers on the road. NISA reported that 9 Al-Shabab members, including senior officials, were eliminated and 16 others were injured. The third planned operation, in Shaw, destroyed weapons storage facilities and a center for weapons repair. NISA reported that a vehicle was destroyed and 3 Al-Shabab technicians were eliminated.
