More than 30 members of Al-Shabaab Successfully eliminated in airstrikes in the Middle Shabelle

On Saturday, the Somali Federal Government revealed that the Somali National Army, in close collaboration with international partners, carried out airstrikes for the past couple of days, targeting bases where Al-Shabab fighters were based in the Middle Shabelle region.

In a statement, the Somali defense ministry further disclosed that the airstrikes took place in Gafyo, Ruun Idiris, and Ali Gaduud areas, where Al-Shabab militants used for conducting training, storing weapons in facilities, and organizing their attacks.

According to the statement, the airstrikes that took place on June 24 and 25, destroyed centers and areas that the militant group of Al-Shabab had in these areas.

The airstrikes also targeted Al-shabab fighters, who were planning to launch attacks.

The ministry of defense has announced that 30 Al-Shabab members were successfully neutralized and eliminated during these operations.

Meanwhile, two vehicles, three motorbikes, arms and military equipment belonging to Al-Shabab militants have been destroyed.

The Somali government went on to say that it will continue the attacks against Al-Shabab, and expressed deep appreciation to the international partners for their support and commitment to the fight against the extremist groups.
