At least 5 people were killed and dozen others wounded when a vehicle that ferry passengers hit a landmine in Somalia’s Southern Middle Shabelle province on Friday.
Reports confirm that the vehicle was travelling between Ceel Gub settlement and Adale district when the vehicle hit the landmine explosion.
Lawmaker Sadaq Mukhtar, a member of Hirshabelle regional parliament told state-run media that Al-Shabab militants were responsible for placing the IED on the road.
He further told that the wounded people will be ferried to Mogadishu using a helicopter so as to receive further medical treatments.
The lawmaker said that the landmine hit the vehicle at around 11 am in the morning.
He added that they are busy burying the dead.
The Somali Federal Gov’t said a couple of days ago that its troops liberated Ceel Gub settlement where the landmine explosion occurred from the militant group of Al-Shabab.
