Somalia’s State Minister for foreign affairs, Ali Mohamed Omar on Friday met in Addis Ababa with Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha. During the meeting, the two sides announced to restore the diplomatic ties between Somalia and Ukraine.
During the high level meeting, the two sides have signed an official agreement which paves the way for the normalization of the diplomatic ties between the two countries after hiatus. Signing the diplomatic agreement shows that the two countries are keen to consolidate the friendly cooperation between the two countries.
The two Foreign Ministers confirmed that the two sides are committed to establish close working cooperation. The discussion that the two foreign ministers had focused ways to enhance the bilateral cooperation.
The two sides also discussed the mutual cooperation between the two countries in the areas of politics, economy and security. Somalia’s State Minister for foreign affairs has talked about in length that the Somali Federal gov’t is committed to establish with Ukraine a fruitful diplomatic ties.
Somali State Minister for foreign Affairs, Ali Mohamed Omar, stated that the ties with Ukraine is crucial for the policy of the foreign affairs of Somalia. Somalia’s State minister for foreign affairs went on to say that he lauded efforts Ukraine showed when it comes to opening a new page based on cooperation and mutual understanding.
The State minister for foreign affairs further said that this is a clear example of how the world countries are keen to work with Somalia. On his side, Ukraine’s FM Andrii Sybiha said that his country is ready to fully work with Somalia. He reiterated that his country will respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Somalia.
Ambassador Sybiha pointed out that the new bilateral ties between the two countries will lead to cooperation in the areas of trade, technical support and mutual cooperation.
He also said that his country is ready to explore new opportunities on trade and development between the two countries. The two ministers showed that the diplomatic ties is crucial for the security and the stability of the region. The two sides agreed to hold further meetings and talks so as to ensure lasting development.
Finally, the new agreement is a sign of a new beginning and good relations between Somalia and Ukraine which represents the common interest and the will and the wish of the two countries to become close friends that diligently work together.
