Hiiraan regional governor, Muse Salad Wheliye said that there is no turning back when it comes to the war that Hiiraan residents are engaged against Al-Shabab fighters. He told that the residents are committed to continue the war that they want to liberate the country from the militant group of Al-Shabab. He called on other communities to follow suit the residents in Hiiraan region.
He said: “I called on other Somali communities to stand up when it comes to the fight against Al-shabab fighters. We will not stop firing the bullets until we defeat Al-Shabab. Hopefully we will inflict heavy defeat against Al-shabab fighters. Our motto is victory or death. I hope the rest of the Somali people will follow suit us.”
The regional governor confirmed that Al-Shabab fighters reinforced their presence in Hirshabelle settlements. He said that they know that there is firing coming from there.
He said: “The strategy of the fighting is to deploy your reinforcements to the area where fire is coming from in order to reach victory. That is what Al-Shabab fighters are doing. They brought the fighters from areas that they are stationed.”
He urged residents in the settlements to put pressure on Al-Shabab fighters who are trained to maintain security. He said: “I called on the residents to fight with the few fighters that Al-Shabab left in the settlements under their control.”
He believes that the pressure from Al-shabab fighters will be minimized from Hirshabelle residents if other regional administrations launch attacks against Al-Shabab fighters in other areas, and that would be easy to eradicate them from the country.
There is a troop mobilization which is underway in Hiiraan region while another troop mobilization is currently underway in Middle Shabelle province.
The Commander of the Ground Forces of Somali National Army (SNA) General Sahal Abdullahi Omar on Sunday reached Moqokori district in Hiiraan region. The current Director of National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbalooshe was already there.
There officers and others who are in Middle Shabelle province are working together to launch operations against Al-Shabab fighters based in the provinces. The plan in place is that the Somali troops will attack settlements that Al-shabab recently recaptured in the East of Hirshabelle before the Somali troops start anti-Al-Shabab operations in the West of the Hirshabelle.
