The former minister in charge of security in Somalia, Hassan Hundubey, has given full details of Abgal clan’s plan against the militant group. First of all, he spoke the war that occurred in Masaajid Ali Guduud. He revealed that the Somali troops recaptured the town from the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab after the militant group briefly took over the town from Somali troops.

He said: ” Both Sheikh Sharif and Ali Gudlaawe who is the president of Hirshabelle state are the two seniors. We have shared them with the mounting pressure and they are ready. The former Somali President Sheikh Sharif travelled to the Umrah. Once he returns, he will be in the frontline fighting against Al-Shabab.”

The former security minister, Hundubey, gave an interview to Dalsan television. He has explained the current war plan underway. He told that he is part of a committee tasked to investigate who facilitated Al-Shabab to reinforce its presence in Middle Shabelle region. He revealed that after a thorough investigation, he met with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in Adale, a costal town and submitted a comprehensive report.

He said: ” While we were in Adale, we held separate meetings with President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Hirshabelle president Ali Gudlaawe. We have submitted a decision to resume the operations while there is unity within Abgaal clan. There are important individuals who have travelled to Umrah, everything is ready. We will return to every district that Al-Shabab regained.”

He disclosed that local residents in Middle Shabelle province remain ready to liberate and defend their territory.

He said: ” I inform the Somali populace that we are ready to liberate our districts from Al-shabab as we previously did and to capitalize on the gains. We should not support the terrorist group verbally.”

He said that the districts that Al-Shabab took control are a few in number.

He said: ” We are rectifying our mistakes which allowed Al-Shabab to reinforce its presence in Middle Shabelle province. We will drive out the enemy. All men are ready including me. I am going to go to the frontline.”

He said: ” There are individuals who we cannot accuse that they are not committed to the fight, but we can be rebuked when it comes not to expedite the ongoing operations against the militant group of Al-Shabab. I believe if we overcome our shortcomings, Al-Shabab does not have the power to resist against the people.

He said: ” The Middle Shabelle province is crucial for the security of Mogadishu and to defend our sovereignty that has led the Somali president to travel to the region in order to defend the nation. Where ever there is mounting pressure, the president is ready to assist.”

The former security minister has finally said that Al-Shabab does not have the capability to resist against the Somali troops and allied forces.

He said: ” The operation which will begin is the one which will eliminate Al-Shabab. They do not have the capacity.”
