Armed assailants on Thursday shot dead a driver who ferries passengers from Mogadishu to central regions in Somalia.
According to reports, the killing took place in a checkpoint in Moqokori district in Hiran region.
Initial reports say that armed assailants who were in the checkpoint opened fire to the vehicle he was driving which led him to die on the spot.
The motive for the killing of the driver is unclear. Somali security agencies have not so far issued a statement regarding the murder.
Sakariye Shiiq Ali was a driver who was well-known within central regions of Somalia particularly in Adado.
Relatives and local residents in Moqokori have called on the security agencies to carry out an investigation to the killing in order the perpetrators to be brought before the justice.
