Units of the Somali National Army (SNA) on Saturday joined the operations that continued for the past couple of days where local Ma’awisley forces were fighting with militant group of Al-shabab that is stationed in Aboorey settlement in Hiiraan region.
There is another fighting that is underway in Yasooman settlement which is next to Aboorey settlement.
The local Ma’awisley forces on last Tuesday afternoon launched an attack against Al-shabab militants that are stationed in Aboorey and Yasooman settlements which are under the administration of Buuloburde district.
The Somali military joined the offensive against the militant group of Al-shabab in Aboorey.
Ma’awsiley local forces blocked reinforcements reaching Al-Shabab militants in Aboorey and the militants that seized Yasooman on the 16th of April.
Al-Shabab militants moved into the mountain areas surrounding Yasooman hours after the Somali National Army (SNA) and Ma’awisley forces retreated from Aboorey.
The Somali army and Ma’awiley forces were battling the militant group of Al-Shabab in Aboorey for 8 days.
The militant group of Al-Shabab moved into Yasooman looking for a route whereby logistics can reach militants group based in Galmudug state.
Al-Shabab’s main objective was to take control of the road in Yasooman which links Moqokori and Maxaas towns-which also links to the Eastern region of Galguduud.
Fierce fighting broke out between Ma’awisley forces and Al-Shabab fighters in an area between Yasooman and Aboorey settlements.
Reports say that Al-Shabab fighters were flushed out of the mountain areas that they moved into a couple of days ago.
Reports further said that Al-Shabab militants dug trenches in the areas below the mountain areas while Al-shabab fighters and Ma’awsiley forces are fighting in the land between Yasooman and Aboorey settlements.
Ma’awisley forces are battling to eradicate Al-shabab militants that are determined to remain in the area.
Elders and intellectuals paid a visit to Ma’awisley forces in Yasooman in order to boost their moral.
Ma’awsiley forces were mobilized in order to support the Somali National Army (SNA) in the fight against Al-Shabab militants.
