Banadir Regional Police Command said that the police in conjunction with security agencies launched a joint operation and nabbed 17 people including soldiers and civilians who are accused of violating a ban in place which was against firing gunshots into the air during independence night commemorations.
The seventeen people are facing the allegations that they fired gunshots into the air on 26th June, 2025.
Banadir regional police pointed out that there is an investigation underway which will lead to provide details of the casualties in the aftermath of the unlawful firing of gunshots during the independence night celebrations.
The Police Command particularly Banadir regional police articulated that the suspects will be brought before the court of law.
In addition, security agencies are still searching other suspects who fired the gunshots from military barracks as announced by Banadir regional police.
Finally, Banadir regional police called on the residents in Mogadishu, Somalia’s capital to share information regarding individuals who pose a threat to the security.
