Jubaland regional President, Ahmed Mohamed Islam alias Ahmed Madobe revealed the reason behind his reconciliation with his Puntland counterpart, Saed Abdilahi Deni in which he parted away after the re-election of incumbent Somali President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in 2022 presidential polls.
He returned to Kismayo, Jubaland’s administrative seat yesterday and disclosed why he buried the hatchet with Puntland President is that he is trying to rescue Somalia.
He held a consultative meeting in Garowe with his Puntland counterpart and said that there was a longstanding dispute with Saed Abdilahi Deni.
He said: “I am happy to come together after a longstanding dispute due to differences on views and now I reached an agreement with my brother. Puntland and Jubaland authorities agreed to unite in order to build a state which is based on Federal system, democracy and peace.”
However, the two regional authorities showed their allegiance and agreed upon in a way that Somalia could reach self-sufficiency and to find a way that there should be accountability in the Federal system.
He said: “We have seen the situation that Somalia is in which it needs a rescue.”
The two regional leaders took a strong stance on the central gov’t. They have clearly stated that the Federal Gov’t does not represent them in reaching crucial decisions as they are not part of the system and already cut ties with Villa Somalia.
