2 AMISOM soldiers wounded in a mortar attack on Halane camp

Two soldiers belonging to African Union Peacekeeping troops sustained injuries and offices damaged in a mortar shelling attack on Halane camp in Somalia’s Mogadishu. The base is a home to several diplomatic missions, including those of US, UK, UN and AU. Six mortar shells hit inside the heavily protracted base on Tuesday. The mortar shell attacks damaged offices and vehicles. Two AMISOM soldiers were injured in the raid. The number of casualties are not yet known. A video that has gone on viral on social media demonstrate that AMISOM officer shouting that they are not safe at all. Al Shabab militant group claimed the responsibility of carrying out the attack. A meeting between the FGS and its FMS leaders were due to hold talks in Halane to break the deadlock of the political impasse.
