The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), in coordination with Int’l partners conducted anti-terrorism operation in Basro district in Middle Shabelle region, killing 16 Alshabab fighters including senior commanders.
Several combat vehicles used by the al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Alshabab were also destroyed in the raid.
NISA said in a statement that it launched an attack twice against a base where Alshabab fighters were stationed.
The 16 Alshabab fighters killed during the operation were isolated in an area nearby Basro for the past couple of days.
NISA in conjunction with Int’l Partners intensified efforts to eliminate the remaining Alshabab strongholds, weakening the group’s operational capacity.
