UK Appoints new Ambassador to Somalia

The UK gov’t has appointed Charles Nicholas King as the new ambassador to Somalia, replacing Michael Nithavrianakis.

The new UK ambassador is expected to takeover the ambassadorship in May, 2025.

Charles Nicholas is an experienced diplomat who served in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Israel.

The appointment is meant to consolidate the friendly and diplomatic ties between the UK and Somalia.

The relationship between the UK and Somalia focuses on the areas of security, economic development and supporting government institutions.

The UK’s diplomatic efforts in Somalia are expected to continue focusing on stability, development, and counter-terrorism under King’s tenure.
