Somaliland Journalists Association is holding an emergency meeting which is aimed at removing the current chair from the post.
SOLJA’s board members convened at its headquarters in Hargeisa on mission to relief the current chair, Mohamud Abdi Jama aka “Xuuto’ from all duties and elect his replacement.
The board members who were in attendance were 9 whilst the quorum opens only when 9 members are in attendance. Solja has got 15 board members.
Veteran journalists have intervened before voting the removal has kicked off whilst they demanded that the vote should be delayed by one day which the board members have accepted. The chair is accused of mismanagement, misappropriation, and lack of accountability.
The board reserves the right to remove the chair, deputy chair and the secretary from their posts.
