Somali President Arrives in Cairo

CAIRO– A delegation headed by Somalia’s President, H.E Mohamed Abdilahi Farmajo arrived in Egypt today and the president will attend the Arab League and the European Union (EU) summit which will open in Sharm el Sheikh tomorrow.

The issues high in the agenda of the talks include ways to boost cooperation between the Arab countries and the EU, illegal immigration and ways to pacify unstable countries in the Arab world. Mr. Farmajo will appeal to bot Arab leaders and the EU to provide support to Somalia gov’t which is striving to reconstruct and rebuild Somalia. The president is due to meet with Arab leaders in the sidelines of the summit and will urge them to further boost the bilateral ties with Somalia. Mr. Farmajo is also expected to hold high level meeting with Egypt president, Abdil fatah Al Sisi and will discuss thorny issues ranging from strengthening ties with Somalia. There are reports indicating that Farmajo will raise with Al Sisi over the recent diplomatic spat with Kenya.
