Puntland regional authority on Thursday accused the Federal Gov’t of Somalia that it is covertly recruiting the youth from Puntland as soldiers who will be later deployed in the frontlines in order to fight against Al-shabab militants.

The Minister Responsible for Information, Mr. Mohamud Aidid Dirir, said that authorities in Bosaso intercepted five youngsters who were travelling to Mogadishu.

The minister disclosed that the mission behind the youth was to send them to the frontlines.

He argued that the youth were misinformed and was told that they would work when it comes to the one-man one-vote elections.

He urged the youth to stay in their regions and further informed them to remain vigilant by not joining the fight against Al-shabab militants.

The minister further stated that the ongoing operations against al-Qaeda-linked terrorist group of Al-Shabab does not have a clear strategy.

The statement from Puntland minister comes at a time when reports emerged accusing the Somali Federal gov’t is recruiting soldiers from Garowe, Galkayo and Bosaso.
