Puntland defense forces are intensifying the military pressure they put on ISIS group, so as to eradicate them from Al-Miskaad Mountain Range in Bari region. The operation dubbed Hillaac which is aimed to drive out ISIS on last Thursday entered the ninth connective month. The third phase of the operations are coming to an end.
On the 18th of April, 2025, Puntland defense forces took in control of a strategic settlement dubbed Togga Miiraale and on the 20th of April, they moved to Moqor settlement. Puntland defense forces conducted operations to flush out ISIS from the road that connects Miiraale to Moqor.
ISIS group has a few bases in Moqor and is the only settlement where the remnants of ISIS are stationed. Once Puntland defense forces take over Moqor settlement, the future of ISIS group will be bleak. The defense forces did not deviate from their target from the outset of the operation which was aimed to weaken the operational capabilities of ISIS group.
Puntland Dervish Forces Command informed the defense forces to carry out operations as planned. The military Command will prevent from every opportunity that ISIS start in order to regroup and mobilize again.
The defense forces are very patient when it comes to all the obstacles that they encounter during the operations while ensuring to reach victory. Puntland defense forces are engaged a fighting with ISIS in mountain areas which do not have roads.
They do not have combat vehicles but they rely on trekking. The fighting is a kind of a problematic one while the defense forces move to reach ISIS fighters in trenches.
The soldiers are fulfilling the strategy that the officers laid out. The officers are preoccupied for ten years to bring an end to ISIS group. ISIS group is operational in Bari region in Puntland. Puntland President Saed Deni who attended the passing out of Puntland Maritime Police Force units, told that the operation is coming to an end.
