The Minister of Culture, Information and Awareness of the Republic of Somaliland Hon. Suleiman Yusuf Ali Koore, speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Information and the government of Somaliland, has congratulated the new Speaker of the House of Representatives of Somaliland, Hon Yasin Mohamoud Hiir a.k.a. Faratoon who was elected by the members of the parliament on Sunday.
The minister described the newly elected chairman of the House of Representatives as a person who has worked hard for the nation of Somaliland and is also a great asset to the country and its people.
Hon. Suleiman likewise lauded MP Mohamed Khadar Dahir Mooge, who was running against Chairman Faratoon, and accepted defeat.
He vouched for the fact that Chairman Faratoon has worked faithfully for Somaliland during his life at different stages and capacities with a wealth of experience in the establishments of the foundations of government and nation.
He said, “Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Information and the Government, I congratulate the newly elected chairman of the Somaliland House of Representatives, Hon Yasin, and I think he is a man who can deal with the violence and problems in the eastern parts of the country. He can be a formidable leader whom we can work with”.
He said that for all that “supported him, took part in the process or had him in mind, we say congratulations and Somaliland has won”.
He said that the interests of the country came first and that the council of the House of Representatives will be guided by the same prioritization of national interests and that of the people of Somaliland.
He added, “We can be in different organizations, we can be in different parties, we can differ in political opinions, but for a mature politician, it is required that the common interest of the nation which should always be prioritized and safeguarded”.
