The President of Hirshabelle state, Ali Abdilahi alias “Ali Guudlaawe” on Tuesday has paid an inspection visit to Somali troops based on the outskirts of Sumadaale settlement which is under the administration of Adale district.

The Somali troops backed by Ma’awisley local forces launched attacks against Al-Shabab militants based in the outskirts of the settlement, although the Somali troops did not completely drove out the militant group from the area.

The Somali troops are stationed in the outskirts of the settlement.

The President paid an inspection visit to the Somali troops and Ma’awisley forces in order to boost their moral.

Ali Guudlaaw held meetings with officers of the Somali National Army (SNA).

A press statement issued by Hirshabelle Presidential Palace said that the focus of the meeting was to intensify the operations that the Somali troops are in a position to conduct against insurgents.

He said: “I have a full confidence on the strategy and the trainings you took. We will defeat the terrorist groups and those who are assisting them within the days to come, God willing.”

He reiterated that Hirshabelle state is committed to weaken the capabilities that the militant group of Al-Shabab brought here.

Operations are underway in Middle Shabelle province which are aimed to flush out the insurgents from the East of Middle Shabelle province before a large scale assault will be conducted against the militant group in the West of Middle Shabelle province which is the group’s stronghold.
