Half Million Face Masks Donated by Djibouti President Reaches in Somaliland

A much-needed shipment of personal protection equipment arrived in Somaliland on Monday, as a plane carrying half a million surgical masks touched down at Egal International Airport. Donated by H.E Ismail Omar Guelleh, the president of the republic of Djibouti to Somaliland government and its populace. Airport crews unloaded hundreds of boxes from the plane, each containing disposable masks. The current SL head of mission to Djibouti was on board on the plane carrying the shipment. Mr. Abdifatah Said Ahmed said that having Djibouti authority handed over the medical supplies and added that he has handed over the donated protective equipment to the director General of the health ministry. He stated that shipment contains 250 boxes whereby each box contains at least  2000 face masks. The DG Dr. Mohmed Abdi Hergeye has reiterated that the medical supplies will assist in the ongoing efforts to mitigate the spread of the deadly Covid-19. Dr. Heregeye said ” The much-needed medical supplies donated by president Ismail Omar Gulleh will be of great help to the fight against Covid-19 in Somaliland.” The medical supplies that Djibouti president donated to Somaliland is the first of its kind since Somaliland’s inception.
