The Minister of endowment and religious affairs minister of the Somali Federal Gov’t on Friday have seen off the first batch of the Somali pilgrims who departed for Mecca in order to perform Hajj rituals.
The ceremony marking the event was held at Adden Adde Int’l Airport. This marks the beginning of the annual Hajj pilgrimage season for Somalia, with more than 431 faithful expected to partake in the sacred Islamic duty this year.
The Minister responsible for endowment and religious affairs of the Somali Federal gov’t, Mr. Sheikh Mukhtar Robow Ali, the Minister of Health, Dr. Ali Haji Adan and the Transport and Civil Aviation Minister, Mohamed Farah Nur and other officials were present during the ceremony in which the Somali Haj pilgrims were seen off at the airport.
The Minister in charge of endowment and religious affairs, Sheikh Mukhtar has urged those who are performing the Hajj rituals to comply with the rules and regulations put in place by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He hoped that their deeds will be accepted by the almighty Allah.
